First year undergraduate EFL learners display a low level of LA. Therefore, this study attempted to investigate the role of a strategy-based instruction (SBI) tutoring course in promoting language LA level with 51 first year undergraduate EFL learners at Mohammed Lamine Debaghine- Sétif 2 University, Algeria. A quasi-experimental design was followed; participants were divided into a control group (n=26) and an experimental group (n=25). Over a period of eleven weeks, the experimental group received an SBI tutoring course adapting a model of Chamot et al. (1999). Qualitative data were gathered from an adapted questionnaire (Tassinari, 2010) as a pre-/posttest and a satisfaction scale; and quantitative data were collected using a post-reflection survey. The obtained data were analyzed with SPSS.22 and document analysis. After the interventional course, the experimental group showed significant improvements in LA in comparison to the control group in the cognitive/metacognitive, action oriented, affective and social aspects. Besides, learners showed positive attitudes towards integrating the intervention to enhance their autonomous learning. This study suggests the incorporation of SBI into EFL classrooms as a pedagogical accompaniment course towards promoting language LA within the LMD system. In addition, the study's SBI tutoring course can help teachers to design tasks and lessons that enable learners to make decisions and be independent. في الخط : http://dspace.univ-setif2.dz/xmlui/handle/123456789/1325 A Tutoring Course to Enhance English Language Learning Autonomy within the LMD System : Case of First Year Students at the Department of English at Setif-2 University [نص مطبوع ] / Madiha Senouci, مؤلف ; Dr. Naouel ABDELLATIF Mami, Directeur de thèse . - SETIF 2 UNIVERSITY, 2018 . - 373 p ; 21*28 cm + CD.

And for the purpose of extending the research scope into the social and cognitive dimensions, we went further through firstly analyzing the learners' interactive contexts using the Interaction Analysis method to investigate the existence and the frequency of the speech functions that might account for this effectiveness; and secondly the introspective method through exploring the effect of that interactive context on the involvement extent of some of the cognitive processes underlying grammar learning. The obtained results indicated that learner's cooperative work had a positive effect n EFL learners' grammar achievement; and that the smaller the group the more efficient in the learners' interaction. Additionally, the group work impacted the extent of some of the cognitive abilities involvement depending on many factors. The research study brought to light many other results. في الخط : http://dspace.univ-setif2.dz/xmlui/handle/setif2/285 How does learners' grammatical accuracy come about when learning occurs cooperatively? : The Case of First Year Students at the Department of English at M'sila University [نص مطبوع ] / BAGHDADI Assia, مؤلف ; Prof. KESKES Said, Directeur de thèse . - SETIF 2 UNIVERSITY, 2015 . - 433 P ; 21*28 cm + CD ROM.

More precisely, it addresses the issue of whether viewing a film in a class of civilization can foster students' culture learning and critical thinking. For this purpose, a case study of third year students of the specialty Foreign Language Literature and Civilization in the Department of English at Bejaia University is undertaken. To obtain and analyze the necessary data three research instruments are utilized namely, students' pre-questionnaire, a teachers' interview, pretests and posttests, and students' post-questionnaire. The results of this study reveal that films are to a considerable extent, effective materials for the teaching of civilization. They are positively perceived by the students who are audio-visual learners and get most of their understanding of foreign cultures from visual media. Furthermore, it is shown that supplementing the course of civilization with film not only increases students' motivation and creates a relaxed classroom atmosphere but also enhances their culture learning and critical thinking. In the light of these findings, it is concluded that when film is used appropriately, it can reinforce civilization course content and objectives. Its visual and entertaining aspects motivate students and increase their engagement with the lessons. Moreover, its rich cultural content enriches students' cultural knowledge and its interpretative aspect enhances their critical thinking. في الخط : http://dspace.univ-setif2.dz/xmlui/handle/123456789/1518 Teaching culture through videos case study : second year L MD students department of english; university of bejaia. Through a sequential mixed-method design, data were collected through two consecutive phases. Data for the quantitative phase were generated from two sources: a questionnaire for teachers and a questionnaire for students. On the other hand, the qualitative data were collected from observation sessions, interviews with teachers, and focus group discussions with students. Our case study consisted of teachers and students enrolled in the academic year of 2019-2020 in Bousaada's (Algeria) secondary schools. The findings elicited that teachers' and students' understanding of intercultural competence was dubious and seemed to demonstrate an enlarged view of the communicative competence objectives. While the significance of intercultural competence in EFL teaching/learning was recognized by most of the participants, the aspects that support the acquisition of intercultural competence have not yet become a frequent concern. The cultural teaching practices were still governed by conventional teacher-centered teaching strategies. During the investigation many inconsistencies emerged namely the gap that exists between the beliefs and the practices, the exam-oriented practices and the process-oriented curriculum requirements, and the expectations of the curriculum and the teachers' training programs. The research aimed to provide meaningful and sufficient contextual knowledge and recommendations for the Algerian language learning environment. Therefore, it is recommended that the curriculum has to be reviewed by supplying explicit instructions and directions about intercultural teaching and has to include further cultural resources. في الخط : http://dspace.univ-setif2.dz/xmlui/handle/123456789/2250 Beliefs and Practices towards the Intercultural Dimension in Teaching/Learning English as a Foreign Language : The Case of Secondary School Teachers/Learners in Bousaada [وثيقة الكترونية] / Sara BOULANOUAR, مؤلف ; Said KESKES, مدير النشر . - Universite Mohamed Lamine Debaghine Setif2, 2022 . - 349 p ; 21*30cm.
