Tackling the Algerian French-speaking contemporary literature from the reception side consists in this work of studying the reader's identity mainly in three Algerian authors' works that are: Le Serment des Barbares by Boualemn SANSAL, La part du mort by Yasmina Khadra and Cette fille-là by Maissa BEY. Drawing mainly on reception theory and culture, semiotics, poetics and linguistics this research study analyses mechanisms of the reader inscription and strategies used by the authors to spot an "ideal" or "potential" reader through textual instances and cultural, religious and linguistic competences the reader and the authors may have in common. The relation between the reader and the text is central in this research to define the function characteristics of the works as North African texts. Which type of potential readership these novels a re supposed to aim at in an ambiguous cultural context? |
